I first wore PVC in 2013. It was a black vinyl pencil skirt, and one of my close friends told me it prompted her boyfriend to tell her he wanted to slap my bum. We didn’t hold it against him, about three of my girlfriends had already made contact with my cheeks that night, because there is just something about that shiny fabric and the water-smacking noise it delivers as you make contact… But before I go off on a tangent that we’ll all regret, let’s show some appreciation to this season’s love for PVC and vinyl…
Inspired by the 60s
Before I started wearing vinyl I’d long admired the Pierre Cardin and André Courrèges creations of the 1960s. These women always looked powerful and in control, and there’s something about the rebellious and albeit slightly kinky nature of PVC clothing that makes me feel like that too.

PVC Now
This season’s fashion week catwalks were filled with PVC, the high streets are filled with PVC, ergo these shiny treats are definitely having a moment. I particularly love the high gloss sugar tones in this baby pink raincoat from La Redoute. And I’ve gone shinyl vinyl crazy by pairing it with a PVC skirt – an elevated twist on the classic A/W leather skirt. Pair it with a slightly more subtle staple such as a Breton tee to bring it back to elegant territory…

For slightly cooler days I’ve teamed the skirt with some textured knitwear to give it a sumptuous luxe feel, the sheer black tights will also take it through to winter.
This post was created in collaboration with La Redoute. All pieces were chosen by me and all opinions are, of course, my own.
I think PVC looks great but it’s not really for me as I don’t think it suits me x

Ahh it’s definitely not for everyone, but a super shiny patent bag or pair of shoes is another fab way of bringing the texture to your wardrobe!
I do not own a PVC till date but itβs looking lovely on you. Maybe I should also look for something for myself.

Yes you should! I think everyone should try it at least once. Even if it’s just a little bit, like a handbag or a panelled skirt. Hope you do! And thank youuuuu! x
Wow! Love this. I’ve just ordered the jacket! π x

Ahh I’m so pleased you liked it so much! Hope you like the jacket as much as I do! It’s a fab colour ?
I love the knitted jumper. I am gonna order it. Styling PVC needs a bit of courage and you pulled it off very well.

Ah thanks girly, I know it’s not for everyone, a patent shoe is a good way of bringing some of that shiny texture into your wardrobe though… or a handbag… or both! haha x
